Upcoming Events:
Thursday, April 16th:
Saint Alfred's Upcoming Events: A Morning of Prayer: "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" On Saturday, April 18th at 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Choir Room, St. Alfred’s Centering Prayer Group invites you to withdraw from the cares of the world by attending a morning of silent prayer. We will meet in the choir room on the north side of the church; please enter through the choir room doors. For questions or to register, please email [email protected]. Registration is not required, but it will help us to know how to set up the prayer circle. While Centering Prayer is the basis of our teaching, all meditation paths are welcome. Books on the spiritual journey will be available to browse or to borrow from the church. American Songbook and Beyond Concert: On Saturday, May 2nd at 3:00 p.m., the American Songbook and Beyond Concert with Theresa Villani on Cello and Kevin Johnson on the Piano, will be held at the Clearwater Countryside Library, located at 2642 Sabal Springs Drive in Clearwater, FL. This is a program of American popular music from the genres of broadway theater, film, jazz, folk, rock, and pop beloved by music enthusiasts throughout all of our present generations. Favorite songs by Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Noel Coward, Richard Rodgers, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, and others will have you humming along. This concert is sponsored by the Clearwater Countryside Library and is free and open to the public. Lectio Poetica (Poetry Group): Are you interested in poetry? A new group is forming to study ways God might use poems to reach through the static of daily life to both soothe us and show us a path forward. We will meet on the first and third Fridays of each month at 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., in the Parish Library. Co-leaders: Fr. Peter, Fr. Dale, and Susan Spear, a local, published poet. It is our intention to share a poem from each session in the following issue of The Banner. We will be using poems about Lent at each of our March gatherings. Come and join us as we begin this new means of growing in our faith. GriefShare Support Group: Help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead. We know it hurts, and we want to help.
